Art Critique
This was a painting by Elaine Adel Cummings. This painting is called-A Cool Night On Bourbon Street. this painting was painted of a street in New Orleans called Bourbon Street.
The colors that she used was blue, orange, and red mostly to create the mood of relaxation. This painting was made of the night time because nobody is on the street and the skies are a dark blue/purple. Blue seems to be the most used color in this picture, with blue stretching from the skies to the ground and its also on the buildings. There is a lot of ways to look at this painting by different perspectives in peoples eyes. The reason that the blue pops is because of the red in the painting.
What the artist is trying to express the colors of New Orleans, where everything is blue and down. Blue seems to be the most used color besides red in this painting giving the mood of relaxation and or sadness. The Red really brings out the vibrant in the picture. The different shades of all the colors on the street make it look like a river of some sort, or the river that they have in Paris in the middle of the city. Overall the painting looks and or reminds me of being down or being blue.
I personally think that this piece of art work is very cool because of the way she used and distributed her colors out on the painting. I think that she could have done a bit better job on the sky, because as you can see everything is so vibrant with different color and the sky has mostly the same color and i personally think that she could have thrown some very bright blue and maybe some yellow, just something the really bring your eye to the sky in this painting. Even though the sky does have some different colors at the very end i still think that she still should add color. That`s just my opinion though
